The Gift Of Righteousness

Romans 5:17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of THE GIFT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) 18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

2 Corinthians 5:21: For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

The concept that righteousness can be and is a gift from God to men is foreign to the human mind. According to the Bible, none of us are righteous and none of us do righteousness. When the righteousness of God goes to work in us and through us our flesh wants to claim that righteousness as its own. It is not. It is the righteousness of God working in us. Our flesh will also struggle to prevent the righteousness of God from working in us.

Romans 3:10 -12: As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Isaiah 64:6: But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Philippians 3:9: And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

Romans 10:1-3: Brethren, my heart*s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. 2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God*s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

Righteousness Is The Gift Of God. To believers this should be the most delightful truth in the Bible.

Romans 4:3: For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. 5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. 20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. 22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. 23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; 24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

1 Corinthians 1:30 a: But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, . . .

Have you received Jesus and has He been made righteousness unto you?
